Des Moines County Conservation is dedicated to the sustainability of natural resources through land stewardship, conservation education and by providing quality outdoor recreation opportunities.
Camping
Camping is a staple of outdoor recreation in Des Moines County and one of the conservation department's primary recreation offerings. Tent and RV camping is available at the 4th Pumping Plant Recreation Park and Welter Recreation Area.
Currently, only tent camping is available at Big Hollow but a huge effort is underway to raise a million dollars in 2012 to construct 30 RV sites at the park.
