Shooting Range

Big Hollow Recreation Area is home to a 25, 50, 100, and 300 meter outdoor shooting range. Each of the ranges have a ten person covered firing line with wood and concrete benches. Several law enforcement agencies, hunter safety courses, as well as local military personnel train at our facility. All ranges are fenced and posted and rules and regulations are enforced. DMCC strives to provide a safe and controlled environment.

Those wanting access to the range must attend a Shooting Range Certification Course taught by DMCC and the National Rifle Association. The course is offered several times throughout the year and covers basic range and firearm safety and range procedures. Successful graduates who pay a membership fee will be provided with a certification card allowing them to use the shooting range during open hours.

Those who have taken DMCC’s Shooting Range Certification Course and have paid the membership fee are allowed to bring and supervise one guest. Each guest, when accompanied by a certified shooter, is allowed to use the range two times per year. Once the guest has used the range two times in one year, they will then be required to take the Shooting Range Certification Course.

The yearly membership fee is $25 for an individual and $30 for families. After attending the free Shooting Range Certification Course and paying the membership fee, participants will receive a certification card good for one year. Notification will be sent to those certified prior to the expiration date and they will be given 30 days from the expiration date to renew their card. If a cardholder fails to renew within that time, they will have to attend the Shooting Range Certification Course before a new card can be issued.

Individual ranges are reserved at certain times for events and law enforcement training. Before heading to the range, be sure to check the calendar for reservations
