Des Moines County Conservation is dedicated to the sustainability of natural resources through land stewardship, conservation education and by providing quality outdoor recreation opportunities.

Big Hollow Campaign

Big Hollow has become one of Southeast Iowa's premier outdoor recreation areas. Through grants and generous donations, the community has already invested over $1 million in this multiuse, family friendly community attraction.

Current Amenities

Recent donations to Big Hollow helped create a 178 acre lake with swimming beach and boat ramp that opened in 2008. Paved access to the park was opened in 2011. That's all in addition to Big Hollow's other amenities which include public hunting and fishing, shooting ranges, hiking, biking and equestrian trails, observatory and primitive campsites.

Vision for 2012

Planned additions to Big Hollow include: 30 RV camping pads with water and electrical hook ups. Bathhouse and concession stand at beach Bathhouse at campground

These additions will make Big Hollow and Des Moines County a true outdoor recreation destination!  Click here to view the RV Camp Map showing planned additions.
