Camping and River Accesses
The Des Moines County Conservation Board offers several camping and river access areas. These areas are as follows:
Welter Recreation Area's are located 1/2 mile east of Augusta on the Skunk River Road. Camping, fishing, and picnicking are favorite activities here. Sycamore Loop is the main campground. (previously known as Area #1)
Maple Loop, (previously known as Welter Park) on Skunk River Road, offers camping and access to the Skunk River and is located within the Lower Augusta Skunk River Area
Cottonwood Loop,
(previously known as Area #4) 1 mile northwest of Augusta,
also offers camping and river access.
Note: Old Area's #'s 2, 3, 5 & 6
are no longer in use!
4th Pumping Plant Recreation Area is located 6 miles north and 5 miles east of Kingston. Camping, fishing, picnicking, and a boat ramp are all available at this very popular park.
Hawkeye Dolbee Access, 3 miles north and 3 1/2 miles east of Kingston, provides access to the Mississippi for hunting and fishing.
Casey Barrow Access, 12 miles northeast of Burlington, is a popular access for Mississippi River enthusiasts.
Tama Beach, 4 3/4 miles northeast of Burlington, provides easy access to the Mississippi for hunting and fishing.
Edgewater Beach, 4 1/2 miles northeast of Burlington, is particularly popular for anglers and winter eagle watchers.
Sullivan Slough Mississippi River Access, 4 miles south of Burlington, provides excellent access to the river. It is a great place to watch eagles in the winter and listen for frogs in the summer.

Camping fees are $5.00 per unit/night for Non Electric.
$10.00 per unit/night for electric.

Electrical available.
