The person in this position is a permanent, full-time employee of the Des Moines County Conservation Board, under the direct supervision of the Environmental Education Coordinator and the Director. This person plans, develops, and presents environmental education, interpretation, conservation education, outdoor recreation and public relations programs for schools, families, youth and adult groups, and the general public; and develops related written, audiovisual and display materials. This person assists in directing the operations and programs of Starr’s Cave Nature Center. This person performs related work as the need is identified. |
¨ The person in this position will have, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental education, interpretation, natural sciences, natural resources, and/or outdoor recreation.
¨ Experience in public speaking, a valid Iowa driver’s license, and a willingness to work weekend, evening, and irregular hours are also required.
¨ A solid background in natural and cultural history, teaching and program planning skills, communication skills, creativity, enthusiasm, self-motivation, professionalism and a positive attitude toward the natural world are required.
¨ Experience in education and program development.
¨ Able to crawl 300’ through a narrow limestone cave.
¨ Negotiable, depending upon experience and qualifications. Starting Salary Range - $24,000-$28,000
