First and third Friday night of each month, Southeast Iowa Astronomy Club meets at the Witte Observatory at Big Hollow Creek Recreation Area for a program and star gazing. Viewing Commences at DUSK. Hunter Safety The schedule for Des Moines County Conservation's upcoming year will be as follows. July 8th, 10th and 12th, 2008 Tuesday July 8th - Thursday July 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. at Starr's Cave Nature Center. Saturday July 12, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at the Big Hollow Creek Recreation Area-Shooting Range October 28, 30th and November 01, 2008 Tuesday October 28th - Thursday October 30th from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. at Starr's Cave Nature Center. Saturday November 01, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at the Big Hollow Creek Recreation Area-Shooting Range
Limit of 50 people; pre-registration required by
calling the main office at 319-753-8260. Please have participants
Social Security Number and Birthdates available when registering. Participants must be 12
year of age minimum. Cost $5.00 per person. Class Dates and Times: Monday April 07th & Thursday 10th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday April 12th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Big Hollow Shooting Ranges Monday April 14th & Thursday 17th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. & Monday September 08th & Thursday 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday September 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Big Hollow Shooting Ranges Monday September 15th & Thursday 18th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Spring Concerts |

**2007-08 Concert Series ticket price-$10 for adults** All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at Starr’s Cave Nature Center. Admission is $10 for adults, and $2 for children under 18. Refreshments are served. Please note increase in admission. Colin O’Brien - April 4, 2008 In the style of the late John Hartford, O’Brien dances rhythms on his amplified footboard and sings while playing the daylights out of his Banjo, Fiddle, and Guitar. Shinbone Alley - May 2, 2008 An exciting mix of favorite Iowa musicians who bring approximately 125 years of collective performing experience. Their eclectic selection of fiddle tunes, swing, old country and bluegrass defies easy classification. |

Pre-registration is not required
except as noted. Fees are charged per person, to help offset the cost of
program supplies. All programs can be made fully accessible for the
disabled; please call 319-753-5808 so that we can accommodate your
special needs. Parent-Tot Program Saturday, April 12 Celebrate nature with your child! Bring your own picnic lunch, then join a naturalist for a bird program. Critter Catching Saturday, May 10 Join us for critter dipping in Flint Creek. We will provide the nets and help with identification of critters. Parent-Child Program Saturday May 24 Celebrate nature with your child! Bring your own picnic lunch, then join a naturalist for an insect program.
