Board Meeting Information
Residents and non-resident hunters born after January 01, 1972 must satisfactorily complete a hunter safety education course in order to obtain a hunting license. Registration for upcoming Hunter Education classes will need to be completed online. Des Moines County Conservation will no longer be taking registration information at the office unless a student cannot get online to register. To search for upcoming classes and to register, students will need to go to: www.iowadnr.gov/training Students will be able to create a log in, enter all of personal info, and be registered for any upcoming class. March 8, 10, 11 & 13th. Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 5 - 9:00 p.m. at Starr's Cave Nature Center. Saturday field class: 8:00 a.m. - Noon at Big Hollow Creek Recreation Area Shooting Range.
August 23, 25, 26 & 28th. Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 5 - 9:00
p.m. at Starr's Cave Nature Center. Saturday field class: 8:00
a.m. - 2:00 Noon at Big Hollow Creek Recreation Area Shooting Range.
Cost for the Conservation Hunter Education Course is $5.00 per person.

Thursday, March 04, 2010 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Saturday, May 08, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 09, 2010 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Classes are held at Starr's Cave Nature Center; no-preregistration required. $25.00 individual or $30.0 family memberships. Spring Public Programs Pre-registration is not required except as noted. Fees are charged per person, to help offset the cost of program supplies. All programs can be made fully accessible for the disabled; please call (319)753-5808 so that we can accommodate your special needs or to register for a program. Parent-Tot Program Saturday, April 10, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Starr’s Cave Park & Preserve , For ages 2-6 with parent accompaniment. Cost: $3 (please note price change). Registration required. Celebrate nature with your tot! Bring your own picnic lunch, then join a naturalist for a honeybee program. Parent-Tot Program Saturday, May 1, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Starr’s Cave Park & Preserve , For ages 2-6 with parent accompaniment. Cost: $3 (please note price change). Registration required. The Mayflies In infinite ways, The Mayflies jump and race, flow and sway. They never stand still and although their music is unquestionably Americana, a distinctly Midwestern mix of blues and country guitar, folk and rock lyrics, fiddle and banjo.
